RFA Talk > Are OA meetings ok?

Hello, I pan to use Kay's food plan as it's exactly what I need, but since there are no meetings in my area, can I attend local OA meetings and still use this program? I do much better at face 2 face, and don't trust myself with only phone meetings. Thoughts?

HI Al,
Glad that you have found the food plan and are finding it to be helpful for you.
Attending OA meetings is okay, especially if you need the face to face support. Keep in mind that OA is a program for people with an addiction to the behavior of overeating. There is no prescribed food plan and perhaps no widespread discussion of addiction to substances in food. It's probably good to supplement with phone meetings so that you are hearing the message about substance addiction as well.
No one at the meeting has to understand about food addiction, though. Only you need to understand your addiction.
I hope that we hear you on an RFA phone meeting! Check out the link on the right side of this page to find the schedule of phone meetings.
Welcome to abstinence!
Call if you want to talk.
