RFA Talk > The Grateful Heart

I read the quote below and thought, how true. At least I think it is for me. When I start to feel like I should have more/do more/be more- that feeling of unease and restlessness that can occaisionally creep in- if I stop and focus on all I am grateful for, then I feel calm. I think this is my ego getting out of my way. How nice it is to have times free of the "bondage of self" and to be at ease with myself, my fellows, and the world.

Is this true for you?

"The grateful heart is a manifestation of one's true self. Nothing sidelines the ego more effectively than a grateful heart."

I agree wholeheartedly:) Just the other day, I was awfulizing recovery and some uncomfortable circumstances I'm in. I became aware of how negative my thinking had become so decided to think of things I am grateful for. It was amazing how quickly my whole attitude changed just by turning my thoughts to thankful thoughts. I also like to fall asleep at night telling God what I'm thankful for:) Thankful thoughts are definitely calming and peaceful!

Thanks for the quote Kelly:)

So true!! Thanks for the post! I love to say that the disease has no defense against rigorous honesty. I think grateful thoughts are just as powerful in my recovery!!
